New Mexico passes legislation to license naturopathic physicians

During the 2019 NM legislative session the Naturopathic Doctors Practice Act (SB 135) was passed into law. Beginning in July of 2020, naturopathic doctors will be granted a license by the New Mexico Medical Board to practice as a primary care physicians when they have:

  • Completed an approved naturopathic medical education from an accredited four-year graduate level medical program similar to that of medical doctors, offering full-time didactic and supervised clinical training.
  • Passed a national professional examination.
  • Passed state jurisprudence and pharmacy exams.
  • Demonstrated good moral and professional character.
